Visiting Piaggio Aero Industries

The visit was entirely focused on the key product of the company, the Piaggio P180 Avanti (version I and II), one of the most widely sold and appreciated turboprops business jet worldwide renowned for its advanced fuel – saving aerodynamic design.
After being provided with a brief introduction to the factory, the technical
tour covered the whole manufacturing process of the aircraft, starting with
the assembly of the structure, with the possibility to get in touch with
modern approaches to design and construction, followed by the installation
attendance of Pratt & Whitney Canada turboprops. The production process
continued with the cabin interior furnishing and ended with the painting
of wing and fuselage as required by single costumers.
The last part of the day featured the presentation of the P166, a light
utility aircraft developed by Piaggio in the 1960s.
The visit was completely free for students thanks to funding provided by Fondo Attività Culturali Studentesche of Politecnico di Torino
