About AESA
A.E.S.A. Torino acronym stands for Aerospace Engineering Students’ Association; its headquarters are situated at Politecnico di Torino (one of the most renowned Italian School of Engineering)
Founded in 2002, its mission is to organize events for aerospace engineering students. The main activity of the association is the promotion of cultural exchanges between Italian and foreign universities and other institutes, including visits to important local and international companies operating in fields related to aeronautics and space technology.
Its final aim is to improve knowledge and information acquisition for its associated students.
The arrangement of professional visits to local companies and research centers engaged in aerospace business is the core activity of the association.
The association has gained experience in international events as well; more precisely in 2005 with a tour to Onera Space Lab at Modane (France), in May 2007 with a ten-day trip to USA visiting Kennedy Space Center (FL) and Smithsonian Air&Space Museum (Washington D.C.) and in April 2009 with a second fourteen-day trip to USA including technical tours to Pratt&Whitney H.Q. (East Hartford, CT), P&W Engine Overhaul and Maintenance Center (Cheshire, CT) and NASA Langley Research Center (Hampton, VA)
Other local events include photo exhibitions concerning aerospace engineering, a newspaper library available for the associated students and conferences organized in partnership with “Associazione Culturale Micene” about history of aeronautics and space.
For more information, please visit Activities page.
AESA activities are administrated through a small local board, made up of 7 people at present day, scheduling the events twice a year in accordance to proposal and needs put forward by its associated students (more than a hundred). A senior team of Aerospace Engineering B.Sc graduated students and enrolled in Aerospace Engineering M.Sc. course is responsible for activities planning; younger B.Sc. students interested in giving their active contribution to association activities provide support during event days and are trained in order to grant a steadily reliable and efficient team when senior members leave. Thanks to funding provided by Politecnico di Torino, all activities for the students are free
Since 2005, AESA Torino is an Affiliated Society of EUROAVIA, a European network of Aerospace Students’ associations, founded in 1959 and operating in 31 cities (17 European countries) counting 1200 members all over Europe.
This framework pursuits on a higher level the same goals of A.E.S.A. and represents European aerospace students at an international level.
